Here are the lyrics to a song called Starting All Over Again. I personally like the version performed by Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole:
Starting all over again is gonna be hard
But I pray to the Lord, to help us make it
Starting all over again is gonna be slow
But we both know, we gonna make it
Cut from the context of their original meaning, and for my own meditation and as a mantra, the words are placed here.
So here I am 3 months home from our trip to Africa to "complete our family" when we realized, it wasn't as "complete" as we thought. Perfect - yes it is a perfect family. We love it, we would be happy and content to keep things they way they are today... but a little flicker in the soul of the family lends us to another adoption journey.
Our current status is that we have been approved to start the process again. "Approved to start" - that's like someone letting you put on a pair of running shorts, but not even being allowed to approach the starting line. There is no guarantee we will be allowed to line up for the run, but so far we don't have any reason to believe we would be "disqualified". So we are in our running shorts, jumping up and down and stretching our muscles getting ready for the next run.
We are planning to expand the family again.
I would be honored to have you join me in another adoption and blog journey.
